Validity
This manual applies to the signal converter for screw-in
flow controllers BAE SA-FF-055-RS.

Intended use
Screw-in flow controllers are connected to the signal
converter (BFF T_ _ _ _-_ _002-_ _ _A0A-S4). The signal
converter is used for monitoring the flow rate and is
intended for industrial use.
The signal converter is designed for installation on a top
hat rail (EN 50022) in a closable control cabinet with at
least IP54 enclosure rating which provides sufficient
mechanical protection.
The signal converter is designed only for the purpose
described here and may only be used accordingly.
The technical specifications in this guide must be adhered to.
Improper handling or operation of the signal converter
beyond the technical specifications will make immediate
stoppage and an inspection by an authorized Balluff
service technician necessary.
Modifications to the signal converter or non-approved use
are not permitted and will result in the loss of warranty and
liability claims against the manufacturer.
Non-intended use
The signal converter may not be used in areas where
functional safety (SIL) is required or where malfunctions
can result in hazards to persons and equipment.
The signal converter may not be installed in explosion
hazard areas. Outgoing cables may not be routed in
explosion hazard areas.
The signal converter is a standard component and not a
safety device per MRL 2006/42/EG. For safety
applications a detailed assessment of the applicability of
the sensor including signal converter per EN ISO 13849 or
another applicable standard by the system designer is
required.

Function
Flow controllers are connected to the signal converter. The
processing electronics monitors the sensor signal for
overshooting or undershooting a preset limit for the flow
rate.
The relay output is active (contacts closed) when the flow
signal exceeds the limit value.
