Specific functions BML-S1G (continued)
6.1.3 Write system configuration
DANGER
Uncontrolled system movement
When starting up, if the magnetic encoder system is part
of a closed loop system whose parameters have not yet
been set, the system may perform uncontrolled
movements. This could result in personal injury and
equipment damage.
►
The system must be taken out of operation before
configuration.
►
The sensor head may only be connected to the USB
adapter for configuration.
►
After using the Configuration Tool remove the USB
adapter.
To avoid data loss and malfunctions, do not
remove the sensor head during the write
process.
Clicking on
Write
SySteM
COnfiguratiOn
sends information
to the sensor head. Transmission takes a certain amount
of time, since all the parameters are sent.
The button
Write
SySteM
COnfiguratiOnS
is only
active if there are pending changes in
parameters.
6.1.4 Read system configuration
The current sensor head parameters can be read out at
any time using the button
reaD S
ySteM
C
OnfiguratiOn
.
When reading out, the parameters shown in the
Configuration Tool are rejected.
This is helpful for example when the parameters
in the Configuration Tool are changed but not
written to the sensor head and you want to
display the original settings currently stored in
the sensor head again.
6.1.5 Calibration function for rotative application
Use this function to calibrate your BML-S1G magnetic
encoder system for rotative applications.
Requirements:
– BML-S1G0…
SA26
. This function requires firmware
version v3 (e.g. 301003_140624) or newer.
– Proper ring, with known parameters (number of poles)
– Proper installation (e.g. air gap within specification etc.)
To perform a calibration, click on the
C

BML
fOr
rOtatiVe
app
.
button on the
S
ySteM
p
araMeterS
tab and follow the instructions on the
upcoming window.
If an error occurs during the calibration (e.g.
because of a cable break) and the calibration is
interrupted, proper system operation cannot be
guaranteed. In this case repeat the calibration,
or use the factory defaults function (see
chapter 5.3.3 on page 14) to revert back to
defaults.
To calibrate, starting from the mark on the
magnetic tape the ring must be moved one
rotation forward and then backward. The Tool
indicates the correspondingly required direction
of movement.
