Definition
CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute)
provides the amount of air your blower puts out. That amount is
decided by the capacity of your blower and how much you restrict the inlet and outlet. Dust
collector manufactures rate their blower CFM as the maximum flow with no inlet or outlet
restrictions. When normal items such as ducting, fittings, separators, cyclones and filters are
added this creates resistance. Resistance is called static pressure that is measured as inches of
water. To know how a blower will really perform, the static pressure should be plotted against
the fan performance curve showing the CFM at different static pressure levels. CFM levels can
be reduced by as much as half the maximum rated CFM depending upon static pressure.
