Using for the first time
Sit on the seat of your Bischoff & Bischoff wheelchair and place your
feet on the footplates.
Make sure that you are sitting as far back in the seat as possible. Make
sure that loose clothing such as, for example, scarves, shirts, etc. do not
hang out of the wheelchair to the side where they could get caught in
the wheels.
Switch your wheelchair on using the on/off button (Fig. 27). You can
now operate the control unit as described in this chapter.
Joystick
The main function of the joystick is to control the speed and direction
of the wheelchair. The further you push the joystick from the central
position, the faster the wheelchair will go. When you move the joystick
back, the brakes are applied automatically (see Chapter 2.5).
If the wheelchair is fitted with electronic adjustment options, the joy-
stick can also be used for selection and adjustment, see Section 4.3 for
further details.
Control panel
All electronic functions for the wheelchair are operated using the con-
trol panel. The on/off button (Fig. 27) powers the electronics for the
control system, which in turn powers the motors of the wheelchair. Do
not use the on/off button to stop the wheelchair, unless it is an emer-
gency. Doing this reduces the service life of the drive components. The
battery display indicates that the wheelchair is switched on.
The functions of the control panel are described in Chapter 4.2.
Charging and programming socket
Using the charging and programming socket is described in Chapter 7.
