ArduIN-9
Solder Pads (K2-K9)
The position of the solder pads correspond with the connectors on the Arduino Uno
board. You can solder the supplied connectors the way you like. If you're planning to
stick the ArduIN-9 onto your Arduino Uno, then mount the supplied connectors according
to the Uno's connectors. If you're going to use the ArduIN-9 without Arduino Uno, you
can use the solder pads specifically for your application.
Driving the IN-9 Tubes
Each IN-9 tube is driven by means of one of these signals on a specific input pin:
▪
A PWM signal. The PWM signal must be 5V. The PWM frequency should be at least
500 Hz, else the corresponding tube may flicker.
▪
An analog signal between 0 V .. 5 V. The input impedance is around 100 KΩ.

An IN-9 tube reaches its maximum level typically at a PWM duty cycle of 65%. Use an
higher duty cycle to burn in a tube.
CAUTION!
If you drive multiple IN-9 tubes at their highest level for a prolonged time, the main
board may heat up significantly.
Burn-in Procedure for IN-9 Tubes
A lot of IN-9 tubes are new old stock. When you first connect and use such an IN-9 tube,
chances are real you won't be able to drive the tube to its maximum level. In that case, a
burn-in procedure will be required.
Drive the tube to its fullest achievable brightness. If you drive even higher, the brightness
will lower again. Now wait for the tube to reach its maximum level. This may take up to
15 or even 30 minutes depending on the tube. The tube may heat up significantly during
the process.
Once the tube has reached its maximum level, the burn-in procedure has completed. The
tube is ready for normal usage.
