Fault calls and Service Restoration
Data collected from service and QA site visits have shown the main system failure reasons to be as shown in the
table below in numerical order.
Symptom Cause
Reason
No RX / TX or low signal.
Misalignment.
Antenna adjustment bolts not
tightened correctly, fine alignment
bolts left loose.
No TX or intermittent TX.
Transceiver connection, damage to
transceiver port.
Incorrect connectors used allowing
water ingress; connectors not
assembled correctly stinger length
to short causing poor connection,
failure to tighten connectors
allowing water ingress. Damaged
cable.
No RX or intermittent RX.
Transceiver connection, damage to
transceiver port.
Incorrect connectors used allowing
water ingress; connectors not
assembled correctly stinger length
to short causing poor connection,
failure to tighten connectors
allowing water ingress. Damaged
cable.
Low signal or intermittent signal.
Antenna assembly. Transceiver
assembly.
Hardware not fully assembled
missing bolts and or bolts left
loose. Obstruction in wave guide
grease etc.
Terminal dead.
Transceiver connection short. Incorrect
connectors used allowing
water ingress; connectors not
assembled correctly stinger length
to short causing poor connection,
failure to tighten connectors
allowing water ingress. Damaged
cable.
Low signal.
Reflector distorted.
Incorrect transportation, incorrect
fitting, distorted during alignment,
other damage.
Power led only and 4 flashing at 20
– 30 second intervals.
Terminal software failure.
Unknown, hardware.
As can be seen in the table above the majority of faults can be eliminated by simply using the correct equipment,
ensuring connectors are correctly made up and fully tightened and the antenna is assembled correctly and fully
tightened once alignment has been completed.
