Designed purpose of use
The AVANT Side shift adapter is an attachment suitable for use with AVANT multi purpose loaders shown in
Table 1. This adapter is intended for applications where an attachment needs to be shifted horizontally in
order to get the job done.
The Side shift adapter is mounted to the loader like other attachments, between the quick coupling plate and
the attachment that is going to be used. The side shift adapter is a rigid adapter plate which moves the
attachment 40 cm or 60 cm to the right or to the left side depending on the model of the adapter. The 60 cm
side shift adapter is equipped with two quick coupling brackets which make it possible to quickly position the
attachment either to the side shift position or in the middle position.
It is recommended to use the hydraulic side shift adapter only when counterweights are installed on the
loader. When using the side shift adapter with a heavy attachment, the loader may tip over as a result of
displacement of the centre of gravity. Using a side shift adapter decreases the lateral stability of the loader,
and also decrease the tipping load of the loader. Because of this the adapter should only be used when side
shift is needed. In other use the adapter must be removed from the loader. The Side side shift adapter is not
designed for any other use than what is specified in this manual and must not be used for any other purposes
than intended.
The attachment has been designed to require as little maintenance as possible. The operator can perform
regular maintenance tasks. All repair work can’t be performed by the operator, and demanding repair and
maintenance operations are to be left for professional maintenance. All maintenance work must be done using
proper safety equipment. Spare parts must be identical with original specifications, which can be ensured by
using only original spare parts. A separate spare parts catalogue may be available, consult your Avant dealer.
