Initial start-up and functions
1
Speaker Output
Speaker outputs to connect speaker systems.
Never connect the loudspeaker cables with the car
chassis ground. It damages your amplifier. Ensure
that the loudspeaker systems are correctly con-
nected (phase), i.e. plus to plus and minus to mi-
nus. Exchanging plus and minus causes a total loss
of bass reproduction. The plus pole is indicated on
most speakers.
The impedance of the subwoofer should not be lo-
wer than 2 Ohms otherwise the amplifier could be
damaged.
2
Fuse
The input fuses are connected in parallel and provi-
de protection against an internal fault of the device,
i.e. the system must be additionally protected by a
further line fuse located in the vicinity of the batte-
ry (max. distance from battery: 30 cm / 12“). The
MATCH MA 40FX is equipped with 2 x 25 Ampere
fuses.
3
Power & Protect LED
The power and protect LED indicates the opera-
ting mode of the amplifier. The power LED lights up
green when the amplifier is ready for operation.
If the protect LED lights up red a malfunction has
occurred.
A malfunction may have different causes as the
MATCH MA 40FX is equipped with different protec-
tion circuits. These protections shut off the ampli-
fier in case of overheating, over- and undervoltage,
short-circuit on loudspeakers and false connection.
Please check for connecting failures such as short-
circuits, wrong connections, wrong adjustments and
overtemperature.
If the amplifier does not turn on it is defect and has
to be send to your local authorized dealer for repair
service. A detailed description of the malfunction
and the purchase receipt has to be attached.
4
+ 12V
Connect the +12 V power cable to the positive ter-
minal of the battery. Recommended cross section:
min. 16 mm² / AWG 6.
5
REM
The remote lead should be connected to the remote
output / automatic antenna (aerial positive) output
of the head unit (radio).
This is only activated if the head unit is switched
on. Thus the amplifier is switched on and off with
the head unit.
6
GND
The ground cable should be connected to a com-
mon ground reference point (this is located where
the negative terminal of the battery is grounded
to the metal body of the vehicle), or to a prepared
metal location on the vehicle chassis, i.e. an area
which has been cleaned of all paint residues. Re-
commended cross section: min. 16 mm² / AWG 6.
7
Line Input
The MATCH MA 40FX is equipped with four RCA/
Cinch inputs. They can be connected with the pre-
amplifier outputs or line outputs of the signal source
(head unit, processor etc.).
In case only two of the signal inputs are connected
a Y-RCA adapter should be used.
8
High Level Input
The MATCH MA 40FX is equipped with four extra
high level signal inputs. They can be directly con-
nected to the speaker outputs of the head unit / car
radio.
The high level input is equipped with our special ‚Di-
agnostics Error Protection‘ circuit which makes sure
that the car radio detects the amplifier as a spea
-
ker. Thus no functions of the radio will be deacti-
vated and no entry in the error log of the car will be
created.
We recommend to operate the highlevel input only
with the enclosed connecting cable or with a
MATCH wire harness (optional).
The amplifier switches on automatically if a stan
-
dard head unit is connected . The remote input has
not to be used.
