When the orange color is not bright,
increase the quantity of light (Figure
9-10) (Refer to page 62).
If the orange color (Figure 9-10) is still
dark in spite of increase of the quantity
of light or the boundary line is reddish,
the light of the illuminating lamp is badly
applied to the lighting window. In such
the event, adjust the height and angle
of the illuminating lamp (light guide) so
that the boundary line is more clearly
seen.
Looking through the eyepiece, turn the
measurement knob so that the
boundary line meets the intersection
point of the cross hairs (Figure 9-11).

Press the SET key on the display panel
of the refractometer, and the indication
of the refractive index starts blinking.

Again look through the eyepiece and
turn the measurement knob so that the
boundary line meets the intersection
point of the cross hairs.
Again press the SET key on the display
panel of the refractometer, and the
indication of the refractive index stops
blinking and continues to light. Therefore
the indicated refractive index is fixed.
After the indicated refractive index is
fixed, the indication on the display
changes as shown in Figure 9-15.
