Extract the appliance by pulling it using the special handles 2.
(fi g. 12).
Lift the central lid, place one or two level measures of ground 3.
co ff ee in the funnel (see fi g. 13). Close the lid, push the appliance
to replace it and proceed as described in paragraph 5.2.1. on
page 10 (‘Preparing co ff ee’).
5.2.6 Notes
Never add the ground co ff ee when the appliance is o ff to avoid it •
being dispersed inside the appliance.
Never put in more than 2 level measuring spoonfuls, otherwise •
the appliance either makes no co ff ee, the ground co ff ee goes all
round the appliance and contaminates it, or the co ff ee comes out
in drips and the message GROUND TOO FINE ADJUST MILL
+ PRESS HOT WATER KEY is displayed.
When dosing the quantity of co ff ee to be added, use the •
measuring spoon supplied only.
Use ground co ff ee for espresso co ff ee makers only. Do not use •
co ff ee beans, freeze-dried co ff ee or other materials that could
damage the appliance.

5.2.4 Setting the grind level
If co ff ee is dispensed too quickly or too slowly (in drips), you can
change the grind level during the milling process. (fi g. 11).
Th e grind level can only be changed during the milling process.
Changing the settings when the mill mechanism is at rest can
damage the co
ff ee machine.
Turning it 1 click (1 number) clockwise, it speeds up the co ff ee
delivery (without drips). Turning it 1 click anticlockwise, it slows
down the delivery (giving a creamier appearance to the co ff ee). Th ese
adjustments will only be evident after at least 2 cups of co ff ee have
been run o ff .
Turn anticlockwise to obtain fi ner ground co ff ee, slower delivery •
and a creamier appearance.
Turn clockwise for coarser ground co ff ee and faster delivery (not a •
drop at a time).
5.2.5 Preparing espresso co ff ee using ground co ff ee (instead of
beans)
Turn the “co ff ee strength/preground co ff ee” knob completely 1.
to the left (for 1 cup) or completely to the right (for
2 cups), to select the function for preground co ff ee. Th is puts
the co ff ee grinding mill out of action. Th e appliance shows
ESPRESSO CUP PRE-GROUND 1 CUP/2 CUPS .
