Carbon Monoxide Poisoning:

Early signs of

carbon monoxide poisoning resemble the flu,

with headaches, dizziness or nausea. If you

have  these  signs,  the  fireplace  may  not  be

working properly.

Get fresh air at once!

 Have

fireplace serviced. Some people are more af

-

fected by carbon monoxide than others. These

include  pregnant  women,  people  with  heart

or lung disease or anemia, those under the

influence of alcohol and those at high altitudes.

Natural and Propane/LP gases are odorless. An

odor-making agent is added to these gases.

The odor helps you detect a gas leak. How-

ever, the odor added to the gas can fade. Gas

may be present even though no odor exists.
Make certain you read and understand all

warnings. Keep this manual for reference. It

is your guide to safe and proper operation of

this fireplace.

SAFETY

Continued

IMPORTANT: Read this owner’s

manual carefully and completely

before trying to assemble, operate

or service this heater. Improper use

of this appliance can cause serious

injury or death from burns, fire, ex

-

plosion, electrical shock and carbon

monoxide poisoning.

 WARNING: Any change to this

heater or its controls can be dan-

gerous.

WARNING: Do not use a blower

insert, heat exchanger insert or other

accessory not approved for use with

this appliance.

WARNING: Do not allow fans to

blow directly into the heater. Avoid

any  drafts  that  alter  burner  flame

patterns. Ceiling fans can create

drafts  that  alter  burner  flame  pat

-

terns. Altered burner patterns can

cause sooting.

Due to high temperatures, the ap-

pliance should be located out of

traffic and away from furniture and

draperies.

Do not place clothing or other

flammable material on or near the

appliance. Never place any objects

on the heater.

Appliance base assembly becomes

very hot when running appliance.

Children and adults should be

alerted to the hazard of high surface

temperature and should stay away

to avoid burns or clothing ignition.

Appliance will remain hot for a time

after shutdown. Allow surface to

cool before touching.

Young children should be carefully

supervised when they are in the

same room with the appliance.  When

using the hand-held remote accessory,

keep selector switch in the OFF posi-

tion to prevent children from turning

on burners with remote.

You must operate this appliance

with the fireplace screen and hood

in place. Make sure fireplace screen

and hood are in place before running

appliance. The fireplace screen shall

have openings for introduction of

combustion air.

Keep the appliance area clear and

free from combustible materials,

gasoline  and  other  flammable  va

-

pors and liquids.

Solid-fuels shall not be burned in a

fireplace in which an unvented room

heater is installed.
