Hotspot and Tethering
The Aspera F40 can be used as a portable hotspot to connect other devices to the internet, using the mobile data on
the SIM card you currently have in the F40.
Please note that when other devices connect to your hotspot, this will consume mobile data on your SIM plan so
charges may occur when utilising mobile data services.
To view the name and password for the Wireless hotspot:
When inside settings, select Connectivity
Use the arrow keys to scroll down and select “Wi-Fi hotspot”
Use the arrow keys to scroll down and select “Set up Wi-Fi hotspot”
It is important to ensure that you know the password and only give the password to those you wish to access your
mobile hotspot.
The default name of the Wi-Fi hotspot is “Aspera F40”.
You can view the password by using the arrow keys to hover over the “Show password” option, and activate it
using the Select key.
After this option has been enabled, use the arrow key to go up and view the password.
To enable the hotspot to allow devices to connect to the Aspera F40:
When inside “Wi-Fi hotspot”, highlight the “Off” option, and use the Select key to enable.
To disable the hotspot, highlight the “On” option and use the Select key to disable.
You can also choose to tether the phone to a computer to access the internet on your computer. To do so:
Connect the Aspera F40 to the computer with a micro-USB cable
Once successfully connected, an option will appear on the screen. Use the arrow keys and Select key to choose
“Charge this Device”. Please note that if the option is different, you will not be able to use the phone for
