Categories of risk
The fittings covered by this installation and maintenance instruction should be installed in
accordance with the water regulations published in 1999*, therefore Armitage Shanks would
strongly recommend that these fittings are installed by a professional installer

Urinals are considered to be a fluid category 5 risk which represent a serious hazard if the fluid were to
find its way back into the supply pipe. For that reason standard urinal bowls that are used with mains wa
-
ter supply must use a DC pipe interrupter between solenoid valve and spreader as shown in section 4.
The box rim urinal has an integrated AB airgap to EN1717 which is suitable protection for category 5
risk. When this products is used in conjunction with a box rim urinal a DC pipe interrupter is not required.
