Active Mode Support Setting Procedure

Place a sheet over the mattress replacement and tuck it in loosely.
Make sure the CPR unit is clearly visible at the head end of the bed.

1. Lie or sit the patient on the mattress.

2. Press and hold both the plus (+) and minus (–) buttons for at

least 3 seconds to reset the mattress pressure to the default
comfort (Equivalent to patient weight 100 kg) control level (4
LEDs light up).

3. The Semi-automatic functionality of the pump operates only

when in default mode, Active (Alternating). This functionality
senses the patient weight and adjusts the pressure in the
cells. This function provides only an assisted adjustment of
mattress cell pressures within a pre-set patient weight setting
range, operating in conjunction with the caregiver’s selection of
pressure setting. Within each weight setting range, for individual
adjustments, caregiver selection of pressure setting should
be considered in order to ensure selection of appropriate cell
pressures to support the patient.

4. Within 20 minutes the pump has adjusted to the correct

pressure.

Reactive Mode

Provides a stable, non-moving support surface for instances where
an active support surface is contra-indicated. In Reactive mode the

Additional nursing assessment must be undertaken in order to direct
an individualized repositioning programme.

In Reactive mode the pump automatically reduces the pressure in
the mattress to increase patient comfort.
