When installing the Quadra
®
15P, use AC power runs and a consult certified electrician to make sure
that all AC wiring complies with local codes and regulations. It is also advisable to properly affix a
cable clip to the cabinet to secure the IEC power cord (2) so it cannot vibrate loose.

There are a variety of ways to input a signal to the Quadra 15P system.
Microphone input usage is covered in a specific section below. The balanced line-level input/s allow
the use of a 1/4" phone plug; either a standard single-ended (tip-sleeve) plug or a balanced TRS
(tip-ring-sleeve) plug; OR either a male or female XLR plug. Do not connect cables to the jacks while
the units are ON and the Volume is turned up!
While a standard, single-ended 1/4" phone plug will work well and the balanced input circuitry will
provide some interference rejection, a balanced cable using either a TRS 1/4" phone plug or an XLR
plug will provide superior interference rejection and performance. With some difficult interference
problems, it may be helpful to lift the shield ground on a balanced cable at the Quadra 15P end only.
Check any input changes carefully, always turning the Volume control down before plugging and
unplugging cables.
Use of high quality premium cables is recommended with the Quadra 15P, as these usually have
better shielding and materials and will provide greater long-term reliability. It is usually a good idea
to leave some slack at the Quadra 15P’s input, and also to tape the cables down or run them under a
cable guard.

The Quadra 15P is equipped with a Volume control to facilitate use in many different applications.
With the Volume control adjusted fully clockwise, gain is at maximum and the input sensitivity is 0.5
V RMS for full-rated output. When driving the Quadra 15P from a mixer, it may be advantageous to
reduce the input sensitivity by turning the Volume control to the halfway point. The Quadra 15P will
then more closely match a typical power amp input.
If the mixing board indicates clipping on its output signals, then the Quadra 15P’s power capability is
not being utilized cleanly. If this occurs, reduce the mixer output level and turn up the Volume
control on the Quadra 15P.
The amplifiers in the Quadra 15P are equipped with SPS
™
and an LED indicator to show if it is
engaged or not. If the sound seems heavily compressed, check this indicator; if it is blinking more
than occasionally, then the drive level from the mixer (or the Volume control on the Quadra 15P)
needs to be reduced.
When first switching on the sound system, turn on all upstream electronics first, then the Quadra
15P with its Volume control fully counterclockwise (all the way down). Begin checking levels with the
mixer output level controls all the way down, and bring them up slowly with the Quadra 15P’s
Volume control set to the desired setting (halfway up recommended to start).
