1. GENERAL INFORMATION

This manual supports models with different field strength specifications.  Refer to the model specification

sheet to determine the applicable features of this unit.

1.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation (AR) Model AA26G40 Field Generating System is a solid-state, air-

cooled, broadband field generating system designed for applications where low-level, high-frequency fields

are required. Included is a tripod-mountable amplifier/antenna field generating unit.

The Model AA26G40, when used with an external signal generator, will provide a minimum of 20 V/m field

strength for the AA26G40-20 and 50 V/m field strength for the AA26G40-50 at a distance of 1 meter. The

AA1000 is recommended for providing DC power, RF signal routing and fault detection to the AA26G40.

The AA26G40 is protected from over-temperature through forced-air cooling.

1.2 SPECIFICATIONS

Refer to the AR data sheet at the end of this section for detailed specifications  for the Model  AA26G40.

1.3 PERFORMANCE DATA

Electric field data at various operating frequencies for the Model

AA26G40

are included in Section 2 of

this manual.

1.4 INSTALLATION

Before installing the system, thoroughly inspect the unit for signs of any physical damage that may have

occurred  during  shipment.    Read  the  following  operating  instructions  in  their  entirety,  and  pay

particular attention to all

CAUTION

 notes.

1.4.1

Auxiliary Equipment Selection

The AA26G40 will not produce field on its own as it requires DC power (two different voltages) as well as a

RF signal source.  AR  RF/Microwave Instrumentation  recommends  use of an AR Model AA1000 and an

external signal generator capable of producing RF up to at least 40 GHz. The AA1000 provides both required

DC voltages to the AA26G40 through a twinax cable and also provides RF signal routing and fault protection

for an external signal generator.
