PERFORMANCE ISSUE
During recent testing it was observed that after several
consecutive hours of running the Reef Racer 2, the driveshaft
seal begins to rub on the driveshaft and the friction creates a
build-up of heat accompanied by an irritating noise. This can be
avoided by following the procedure listed below.
YOU WILL NEED:
❏
1.5mm Hex Driver (HCAR1156)
❏
Petroleum Jelly or Grease
Remove the
canopy/cockpit from
the Reef Racer 2.
Gently twist and
remove the forward
hatch cover.
Loosen the aft 1.5mm
set screw located on
the motor/driveshaft
coupler.
Pull the driveshaft
back towards the
rudder as shown.
Slide the driveshaft
seal off of the
stuffing box .
Apply a generous amount of petroleum jelly or thick grease to
the driveshaft seal and end of the stuffing box.
Replace the driveshaft seal and push the driveshaft back up
into the drive coupler.
Re-tighten the 1.5mm set screw on the drive coupler making
sure that the set screw rests on the flat spot of the drive shaft.
Replace the forward hatch cover and put the canopy/cockpit
back in place. Repeat this procedure as needed.
Now you’re ready for action!!
