4 MAINTENANCE
4.1 General regulations
Periodic maintenance is of fundamental importance to keep the pump in good running
order and make it last over time.
The tips provided below must be followed systematically and to the letter. It is extremely
difficult to define the standard times required for maintenance beforehand, as the factors
that determine the wear of the pump, and in particular the parts that are in contact with
the liquid, are numerous.
This also applies to the type of product used to clean the materials that are in contact
with it (valves, etc.) as it depends on its compatibility with the chemical product being
dosed. Having said this, we can take as an example a product, such as sodium
hypochlorite, that develops crystals, which is often used with our pumps, and with which
we have a great deal of experience, and trace an identity kit of the type of maintenance
required.
4.2 Periodic maintenance
The level of the liquid to dose on the system must be checked very often, so as to avoid
the pump from working on empty.
The pump materials that are in contact with the chemical product are: pump head, foot
strainer and injection valve must be checked and cleaned at least every three months. If
the products are particularly aggressive increase the frequency of cleaning.
If the pump is left unused for a prolonged period the product may form build up that can
cause malfunctions the next time it is started up. We therefore recommend always
cleaning the valves thoroughly (wash under running water) every time the pump is
started after prolonged periods of inactivity. Alternatively, it is possible to wash the
pump beforehand by running it for at least 30 minutes with the foot strainer immersed in
water, before leaving the pump to rest for a long period of time.
4.3 How to intervene
Before performing any type of intervention consult the safety technical data sheets of the chemical product to be
dosed and proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the pump
2. immerse the foot strainer and the delivery tube in clean water and run the pump for a few minutes to make
water flow through the pump head.
If there are any crystal formations requiring removal proceed as follows:
4. Immerse the filter and the delivery tube in a solution that can remove the crystal formations (for example,
hydrochloric acid for sodium hypochlorite crystals).
5. Run the pump for a few minutes to allow the product to carry out a deep cleaning action.
6. Once this action has been completed, repeat it using water and connect the pump to the system.
!!! ATTENTION!!!
All operations must be carried out wearing suitable gloves and eyewear for the product
being used, consult the supplier of the chemical product accordingly.
4.4 How to change parts after normal wear
Changing fuses (model 5x20
– 1.6 A – Delayed)
Proceed as follows:
1. (Where included) Position the stroke regulating knob to minimum.
2. Unscrew the screws for the frame.
3. Open the front and rear part being careful of the knob's return spring (where included)
4. Change the fuse which is clearly visible on the circuit.
5. Reassemble everything being careful that the regulating knob (where included) is always at minimum and
that the spring is inside it.
Cleaning the valves
Proceed as follows:
1. With a small implement lever the groove on the thread of the pump head.
