4. Operation
All pumps have to be cleaned regularly.
5. Turboflotor 5000
Protein skimmer for large aquaria up to 5,000 litres (please refer to separate manual).
6. UV-C sterilizer (optional)
UV sterilizer clear the water with the help of UV-C radiation. This radiation is emitted by special lamps. The UV-
C radiation kills all forms of life that is directly exposed to the radiation – microalgae, bacteria, protozoa and
other parasites. This results in crystal clear water and healthy fish.
7. Safety advices
The radiation of the UV-C lamps is dangerous. Direct contact with eyes or skin can result in irreversible damages.
Therefore, the unit must always be switched off before it is opened. The unit may only be switched on when the
water flow is on.
8. Maintenance
The UV-C lamp has a life span of approx. 8,000 hrs. The lamp has to be changed regularly. We recommend to
clean the quartz tube whenever the lamps are changed.
Turn off the unit, close the tap for the water supply (Fig. 3, No. 14) and unscrew the front nut (Fig. 3, No. 9).
The rear nut (Fig. 3, No. 10) remains untouched. Opening the rear nut will take you to the quartz tube. In this
case, it is imperative that no more water runs through the UV system as this would spurt out immediately. After
the lamp has cooled down, you can pull out the UV lamp. For this purpose, the housing must not be removed
from its holder if there is sufficient space to the side to take the quartz tube and UV lamp out. This should be
considered when installing the filter.
The quartz tube can be cleaned with water and a soft cloth. If there are calcium deposits on the tube, it can be
cleaned with vinegar or commercial decalcifiers. Afterwards, flush it with water thoroughly.
The electronic ballast (Fig. 3, No. 11) is maintenance-free. If the lamp stops working or does not start anymore
although a new lamp is mounted, the ballast has to be changed. This has to be done by a specialist.
9. Warranty conditions
AB Aqua Medic GmbH grants the first-time user a 24-month guarantee from the date of purchase on all material
and manufacturing defects of the device. Incidentally, the consumer has legal rights; these are not limited by
this warranty. This warranty does not cover user serviceable parts, due to normal wear and tear. The original
invoice or receipt is required as proof of purchase. During the warranty period, we will repair the product for
free by installing new or renewed parts. This warranty only covers material and processing faults that occur
when used as intended. It does not apply to damage caused by transport, improper handling, incorrect
installation, negligence, interference or repairs made by unauthorized persons.
In case of a fault with the
unit during or after the warranty period, please contact your dealer. All further steps are clarified
between the dealer and AB Aqua Medic. All complaints and returns that are not sent to us via
specialist dealers cannot be processed.
AB Aqua Medic is not liable for consequential damages resulting
from the use of any of our products.
