SYMPTOM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
TREATMENT
The OPC emits no sound or start-up
oxygen pulse when turned ON
1. Depleted or low batteries.
1.
Replace batteries with a fresh set of
quality Alkaline.
2. Batteries are not installed properly.
2. Reinstall batteries to correct polarity.
3. Battery contacts dirty or corroded.
3. Clean battery contacts.
4. Oxygen cylinder valve is OFF.
4. Check oxygen cylinder valve is turned ON.
5. Inlet hose (36) / outlet hose (35) is not
connected properly, kinked or is obstructed.
5. Check connections of inlet / outlet tube.
If obstructed, clean or replace tube.
Start-up sound is heard, but no start-up
oxygen pulse delivered
1. Oxygen cylinder valve is OFF.
1. Check oxygen cylinder valve is turned ON.
2. Inlet hose (36) / outlet hose (35) is not
connected properly, kinked or is obstructed.
2. Check connections of inlet / outlet tube.
If obstructed, clean or replace tube.
When using the facemask, no oxygen
pulse on inhalation
1. Facepiece not sealed against skin.
1. Check to ensure facepiece is properly
positioned and sealed against skin.
2. Outlet hose (35) is not properly connected
or obstructed.
2. Check outlet tube for proper connection.
If obstructed, clean or replace tube.
Oxygen pulses are delivered, but the
green LED indicates no flow condition
1. Depleted or low batteries.
1.
Replace batteries with a fresh set of
quality Alkaline.
2. Inlet hose (36) / outlet hose (35), nasal
cannula (32) or facemask is obstructed.
2. Clear obstruction in cannula, facemask
or inlet / outlet tube.
OPC does not trigger on inhalation
1. Set to ON mode, but below 8,000 ft altitude 1. Switch to R/M or F20 mode to test flow.
2. Breathing shallow or through mouth.
2. Inhale deeply through nose.
3. Oxygen cylinder valve is OFF or inlet
hose (36) / outlet hose (35) is not connected
properly, kinked or is obstructed.
3. Check oxygen cylinder is ON. Verify inlet
/ outlet tubes are connected properly, not
kinked or obstructed.
