needed.
6.5.
Multiple Commands
SCPI allows multiple commands to be strung together on the same line separated by semi-
colons. This feature is not implemented.
6.6.
Multiple Port Usage
On units with a functional USB port (built after 8/15/2014), and firmware Version 2.31, it is
possible to use either the RS232 port OR the USB port. Commands will be acted upon in the
order received on either port.
In firmware Version 2.32 and above, to avoid conflicting use of the two ports, the following rules
have been added:
1.
The first command received on either port locks the instrument to that port.
2.
While locked on one port, any commands received on the other port will receive a reply of
“BUSY” and not be acted upon.
3.
Receiving a SYSTEM:RELEASE command on the locked port will release the port.
4.
If no commands are received on the locked port within a timeout period, the port will
automatically be released.
5.
The timeout period defaults to 60 seconds but can be set with the
SYSTEM:RELEASE:TIMEOUT command.
This feature allows the instrument to be shared by two computers although one will have to wait
while the other is using the instrument.
