Adjusting Partition Size
When administrators’ fingerprints are registered the first time AH651 is used (the procedures
described in “
3.1 Enrolling Fingerprints for Administrators
” are completed), you will notice the
device is divided into two partitions. One is the public partition, indicated as PUBLIC by the system.
The other is the fingerprint-secured partition, indicated as SECURE by the system.
The public partition is visible to anyone when the device is inserted into a USB port. However, the
fingerprint-secured, secure partition reserved to store protected files is only accessible when the
user’s fingerprint or password is authenticated.
Apacer AH651 is equipped with the brand new function of "Partition Defense", and the storage space
is divided into "Public Partition" and "Secure Partition". The "Public Partition" can be used to save
normal files with low sensitivity, and it can be readily used upon plugging as a regular USB flash drive
for quick file access. The "Secure Partition" requires the fingerprint recognition or password login with
encryption protection in order to protect confidential information from erroneous transmission or theft.
Every time you want to open the fingerprint-secured partition, you have to authenticate your
fingerprint or password so as to gain access to the secure partition.
Simply plug in the device to an available USB port on your computer, and click “Open folder to view
files”. You will see a disk named “PUBLIC”, which is the public partition.
Place your finger on the sensor plank. The secure partition “SECURE” will appear in a few seconds
after the fingerprint is verified.
