Rules and regulations
For fire protection in ventilation systems the requirements of §3 and §17 of MBO
(German Model Building Regulation) apply, among others. These requirements
shall be included in the building regulations of the respective country. The rules
and regulations applicable in the country of use must be observed.
Extract from Model Building Regulation § 17:
"Buildings, plants and facilities must be designed such that development and
spreading of fire and smoke is prevented and in case of a fire rescue of people
and animals as well as efficient fire-extinguishing measures are possible."
As a general principle, all rules and regulations must be observed in
parallel in case that a product falls within the scope of application of
several regulations, in order to also comply with the special require-
ments of every regulation.
7.1
Definition of the field of application
The product LRS 04 Ex is intended for smoke detection in ventilation systems
in potentially explosive atmospheres. The sensor can be installed in ventilation
ducts with air flow speeds between 1 m/sec. and 20 m/sec.
