DTF Measurement (Determining the quality of the cable.)
NOTE:
If cable length measurement has not been done, calibration must be done be-
fore determining the quality of the cable (steps 1-15).
Step 24. Disconnect the Short and connect the Load to the test port extension cable
Setting the Amplitude Scale
Step 25. Press the
AMPLITUDE
or
LIMIT
key to call up the Scale Menu..
Optional: Press the
AUTO SCALE
key to optimize the amplitude scale.
Step 26. In SWR mode, press the
TOP
soft key and enter 1, ., 0, 5 using the keypad or
Up/Down arrow key. Press
ENTER
to set the top scale. (In Return Loss mode,
enter 20.)
Step 27. In SWR mode, press the
BOTTOM
soft key and enter 1 using the keypad or
Up/Down arrow key. Press
ENTER
to set the bottom scale. (In Return Loss
mode, enter 54.)
Setting the Markers
Step 28. Press the
MARKER
key to call up the Markers menu.
Step 29. Press the
M2
soft key to select the M2 marker function. (Note: pressing the
ON/OFF
soft key activates or deactivates the M1 marker function.)
Step 30. Press the
MARKER TO PEAK
soft key to find the maximum SWR or Return
Loss reading. (See Figures 4-10 and 4-11.)
