Interpreting Status Lights
Inside Cabinet
Open the cabinet door and you see a string of green, yellow, and red
lights, some of them flashing.
Figure 6 shows how the lights appear.

All these lights, except of course the ERROR light, turn on when the
power comes up. The lights blink to indicate activity. The purposes of
the five lights are as follows:
• CPU—Flashes every 0.2 sec that the controller is active.
• RD—Flashes every 0.5 sec when the modem is receiving data.
• TD—Flashes every 0.5 sec when the modem is transmitting data.
• DCD—Lights up to indicate the modem is sending a carrier detect
signal, which means it is on-line.
