5.5.3 Cleaning the air filter element
•
Unscrew screws (1) and remove filter cover (2).
•
Remove foam element (3) from the filter cover.
•
Remove paper element (4) from filter housing (5)
Cleaning the foam element:
•
Clean with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly with water and
allow to dry.
Or
•
Clean with a non-flammable solvent and allow to dry.
Cleaning the paper element:
•
Tap the paper element lightly against a hard surface to re-
move stubborn dirt.
Or
•
Blow out with compressed air (max. 2 bar) from the clean side
facing towards the engine.
•
Remove dirt on the filter cover and housing with a most cloth
ensuring that no dirt is able to enter the air chamber to the car-
burettor.
•
Insert filter elements (3+4), fit cover (2) and tighten screws (1).

Important
If the intake air has a high dust content, the filter ele-
ment should be cleaned several times a day as re-
quired.
Danger
Never use petrol or cleaning solutions with a low
flash point for cleaning the filter element!
Do not smoke in the working area; avoid open fire
and sparks – fire and explosion hazard!
Risk of eye injuries! – Wear safety goggles.

Attention
Change the filter element:
– if the filter element is damaged
– if moist or oily deposits are present
– if engine performance reduces
– minimum once a year
Never operate the engine without air filter.
Do not allow dust to enter into carburator.
