Maintenance by the operator

Information

In order to ensure the availability and operational safety of the equipment, we
recommend having the system checked for correct operation and performance at
least once per year by specialized technicians. To find contact addresses of
service organizations authorized by SPECTRO go to www.spectro.com

6.1

Operator maintenance plan

Warning! Ionizing radiation!

An X-ray tube is located inside the instrument.

Perform only the operator maintenance task described in this chapter. The
operating personnel is not permitted to perform any other maintenance task.
Any other services (e.g., technical maintenance) or repairs must only be
performed by service personnel authorized by the instrument manufacturer.

The maintenance intervals specified in the following table are guidelines which
should be observed as a minimum requirement. The maintenance intervals may
vary, depending on the use of the instrument.

To ensure the flawless function of the instrument, proceed with the following
maintenance tasks:

Daily maintenance work

Tasks to be performed

Measurement for control sample.

Carry out a control sample measurement.

Monthly maintenance work

Switch off the instrument completely.

This is a procedure requested by the
software program every 30 days. Switch off
the instrument and leave it off for 1 minute
before switching it on again. Safety devices
are automatically checked for correct
functioning whenever the instrument is
restarted.

Then, carry out an energy channel
recalibration procedure (MCA) (see Chapter
6.2.2).
