Setting Channel Dynamic Attributes

Setting channel Dynamic attributes is the second setup
procedure of the Dynamic mode setup. A Channel Setup menu

for Dynamic attributes is displayed following completion of
the Configure Detection Zones setup procedures (page 9).

This menu, illustrated below, is used to set the motion

detection criteria for the selected channel. The system default
values are indicated in this menu illustration.

Three separate parameters are used to control motion detection
in Dynamic mode for each Detection Zone in a channel:
SCENE RETENTION, SENSITIVITY, and ADJACENCY.
These parameters together determine the movement detection
characteristics of each zone. An alarm is activated when
detected movement meets the criteria set for all three
parameters.

Note: 

After adjusting any of these parameters, it is essential to

test each channel and zone to verify the settings.

SCENE RETENTION

The SCENE RETENTION parameter affects the unit’s

sensitivity to slow changes in the scene under surveillance,
such as changes due to the movement of the Sun and its
shadows. High settings result in higher sensitivity to slow or
infrequent motion, such as the movement of leaves on a tree.
Low settings result in decreased sensitivity to such
movements. Retention is set the same for all zones in each
channel.

The setting range for SCENE RETENTION is from 1 to 15

where 1 is maximum retention, and 15 is minimum retention.
The default setting for SCENE RETENTION is 8. To change
the setting for the selected channel:

 Move the cursor to the SCENE! RETENTION line.

2. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to decrement or

increment the value, from 1 to 15.

SENSITIVITY

The SENSITIVITY parameter adjusts 

the 

motion 

detection

circuitry of each channel to detect moving objects of varying
speed and contrast. High settings of Sensitivity result in
detection of slow moving objects with very low contrast, while
low settings require greater contrast or speed to cause an
alarm. Sensitivity is set separately for each zone in the
selected channel.

The setting range for SENSITIVITY is from 1 to 15, where 1
is the lowest sensitivity and 15 is the highest sensitivity. The
default SENSITIVITY setting for each zone is 8. To change

the setting for each zone:

1. Move the cursor to the 

 line for the desired

zone.

2. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to decrement or

increment the value, from 1 to 15.

Repeat the above steps to set the SENSITIVITY parameters
for each Detection Zone.

ADJACENCY

The ADJACENCY parameters specify the number of adjacent

cells which must detect motion in the same video frame. Low
settings of Adjacency result in the unit being more sensitive to
smaller objects. Adjacency is set separately for both horizontal
(HOR) and vertical 

 motion, and for each zone in the

selected channel. An alarm is initiated if adjacent movement

occurs in either direction. An example scenario using

Adjacency is shown in the Appendix, page F.

The setting range for ADJACENCY is from 1 to 7 where 1 is
no adjacency (any motion within a single cell is an alarm
condition), and 7 is maximum adjacency. If either direction is
set to 1, there is no adjacency in both directions.

The default ADJACENCY setting is three cells for both
horizontal and vertical motion. To change the setting:

1. Move the cursor to the ADJACENCY line for either

horizontal (HOR) or vertical 

 for the desired

zone.

2. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to decrement or

increment the value, from 1 to 7.

Repeat the above steps to set the ADJACENCY parameters for
both horizontal and vertical for each Detection Zone.

When all zone attributes are set as desired, press the MENU
button to advance to the next procedure of Dynamic Setup,
