Rinse face piece and dental insert in clean water.
B.
Was� items in warm water, max 65°C (150°F), using a mild detergent.
C.
Rinse t�oroug�ly in clean water to remove all traces of detergent and let t�e parts dry.
8.4 Mechanical cleaning
T�e face piece and dental insert can be was�ed in a was�ing mac�ine. Use t�e normal
measure of detergent and was�ing program wit� a maximum temperature of 65°C (150°F).
Leave t�e parts to dry before packing.
8.5 Disinfection
After separating and cleaning t�e face piece and dental insert, disinfection can be performed
as follows:
A.
Place t�e item in a sodium �ypoc�lorite solution wit� minimum 500 ppm freely accessible
c�lorine (1/4 a cup of liquid �ouse�old bleac� per gallon (Approx. 4 litres) of tap water for
10 minutes). T�is solution must be fres� and s�ould be discarded after use. (T�is met�od
is recommended by AHA).
B.
Place t�e items in a 70% alco�ol c�lor�exidine solution for 2 minutes (70% et�ylalco�ol
and 0,5% c�lor�exidine). (T�is met�od of disinfection is recommended by t�e Australian
Resuscitation Council).
C.
C�emical disinfection can also be performed using recognized disinfectants suitable for
use wit� polyvinylc�loride (PVC) T�e supplier’s directions on solution strengt� and
disinfection period s�ould be closely followed.
D.
Always rinse t�e items in clean water after disinfection and allow to dry before storing.
NOTE! Face pieces must not be boiled, autoclaved or gassterilised.
8.6 Cleaning of skull, neck and body
T�e skull, neck and body of t�e Ambu MultiMan s�ould be wiped over wit� a clot� moistened
in a mild detergent and t�en wiped over once more using a clot� moistened in clean water.
Marks on t�e Ambu MultiMan left by lipstick or ball pen can penetrate t�e material and s�ould
t�erefore be removed as quickly as possible using alco�ol.
8.7 Cleaning of carrying bag
T�e carrying bag s�ould be was�ed in a mild detergent using clot� or soft brus�, rinsed in clean
water and t�en dried.
