DESCRIPTION

The ADA104 Home Theatre Speaker System is a unique amplified
speaker system that features Stereo or Dolby Pro-Logic Surround Sound
from one TV set top unit and a subwoofer. The set top unit has four
speakers and uses Altec Lansing’s patented side “firing” technology
and algorithms to provide surround sound from the sides, rear and
front (center). One major convenience of the system is the elimination
of wiring separate speakers and the space they require. The
subwoofer has one speaker and  produces all low frequencies for full-
bodied sound.

All functions can be controlled manually or by remote control. The set
top speakers are magnetically shielded and therefore will not distort the
TV screen.

The unit has automatic turn-on. When an audio signal is sensed by the
amplifiers, they are activated. If no audio signal is sensed over a
prolonged period, the amplifiers will turn off.

Two inputs are provided. One input is used for an analog DVD output
(or other source) and the other input can be used for playing a CD or
any device that requires audio power amplification.

OPERATION OF THE CONTROLS

The MASTER VOLUME CONTROL has two modes of operation. It is
used to individually set the levels of the subwoofer (SUB), CENTER
and SURROUND functions and after these levels are set, the control
reverts to becoming a master volume control.  Above the volume
control are eight LED’s in different colors. The colors indicate the range
of audio power; three green LED’s indicate the lower register of power,
three orange LED’s indicate mid power and two red LED’s indicate
maximum power.

Setting the levels of the (SUB), CENTER, and SURROUND must be done
within a few seconds otherwise the function will revert back to the
MASTER VOLUME control.

SUB (SUBWOOFER)

To set the level of the subwoofer amplifier press this button, a green LED
indicator will turn on. Turn the MASTER VOLUME control to set the
subwoofer level.

CENTER

To set the level of the center amplifier, press this button. A green
LED indicator will turn on.  Turn the MASTER VOLUME control to set
center level.

SURROUND

To set the level of the surround amplifier, press this button. A green LED
indicator will turn on.  Turn the MASTER VOLUME control to set the
surround level.

MODE

When this button is pressed repeatedly, the mode of operation changes
from STEREO to PRO-LOGIC and back again to STEREO.  A two-color
indicator above the button will show amber for STEREO and green for
PRO-LOGIC.

MUTE

When the SUB and SURROUND buttons are pressed simultaneously,
audio is muted. Pressing these buttons again will restore sound.  Sound
will also be restored if any other button is pressed.

Note: The NOISE mode used for setting balances can only be accessed
by using the remote control.

REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION

For best results aim the remote control towards the infrared receiver on
front panel of set top speakers.  LED’s will indicate function as when unit
is operated manually.
