M.I.X. (Random Play)
1
Press the M.I.X. button in the play or pause mode.
The files on the disc will be played back in a random
sequence.
To cancel M.I.X. play, press the M.I.X. button again to
turn off the M.I.X.
NOTES
•
With M.I.X. on in the “FOLDER ONLY” mode (see “Setting
the Range of MP3 File Selection” section on page 30), the
Files in the current Folder are played back in random
sequence. After all the files have been played back, a new
random sequence is started for the same Folder. Manually
select another folder to begin random playback of that folder.
•
If an MP3 compatible CD changer is connected:
In CD changer mode, press the F button to display
“FUNCTION ON” (CDA-7998 only), illuminate the “FUNC”
indicator (CDA-7897 only) and go to step 1 within 5 seconds.
The FUNCTION mode is canceled if there is no operation
performed within 5 seconds.
Scanning Programs

Press the SCAN button to activate the Scan mode.
The first 10 seconds of each file will be played back in
succession.
To stop scanning, press the SCAN button and
deactivate the Scan mode.
NOTES
•
In the “FOLDER ONLY” mode (see “Setting the Range of
MP3 File Selection” section on page 30), the first 10 seconds
of each File in the current Folder will be played back.

If an MP3 compatible CD changer is connected:
In CD changer mode, press the F button to display
“FUNCTION ON” (CDA-7998 only), illuminate the “FUNC”
indicator (CDA-7897 only) and go to step 1 within 5 seconds.
The FUNCTION mode is canceled if there is no operation
performed within 5 seconds.
Fast Forward and Backward

Press and hold the g DN or f UP button to
quickly move backward or forward until you reach the
desired section of the file.
Selecting Folders

Press the FOLDER DN or FOLDER UP button to
select the folder.
NOTE
If an MP3 compatible CD changer is connected:
In CD changer mode, press the F button to display
“FUNCTION ON” (CDA-7998 only), illuminate the “FUNC”
indicator (CDA-7897 only) and go to step 1 within 5 seconds.
The FUNCTION mode is canceled if there is no operation
performed within 5 seconds.
File Search
You can locate all the files on a disc and play them.

Press the FILE SEARCH button during playback.
The unit switches to File Search mode.

Turn the Rotary encoder to select the desired file.

Press the MODE button to execute the setting.
The selected file starts to play.
NOTES
•
During search, press the FILE SEARCH button to cancel the
File Search mode.

If an MP3 compatible CD changer is connected:
In CD changer mode, press the F button to display
“FUNCTION ON” (CDA-7998 only), illuminate the “FUNC”
indicator (CDA-7897 only) and go to step 1 within 5 seconds.
The FUNCTION mode is canceled if there is no operation
performed within 5 seconds.
Repeat Play

Press the REPEAT button to play back repeatedly the
file being played.
The file will be played repeatedly.
Press the REPEAT button again and select OFF to
deactivate the repeat play.
NOTES
•
If an MP3 compatible CD changer is connected and the
RPT ALL mode is selected, the unit repeatedly plays back all
files on the selected disc.
•
With RPT ALL on in the “FOLDER ONLY” mode (see “Setting
the Range of MP3 File Selection” section on page 30), the
Files within the current folder will be repeatedly played back.
•
If an MP3 compatible CD changer is connected:
In CD changer mode, press the F button to display
“FUNCTION ON” (CDA-7998 only), illuminate the “FUNC”
indicator (CDA-7897 only) and go to step 1 within 5 seconds.
The FUNCTION mode is canceled if there is no operation
performed within 5 seconds.
