use a good lightning arrestor,

practice to disconnect and ground antenna
feed lines, and to disconnect A-C power,
when the equipment is not in use.

Never use an automatic antenna tuner into or
through the Alpha 87A. This will cause
damage to the input wattmeter & input relay.
