The fields and functions in the window are described in the following
sections.
Administrator’s
Profile
The Administrator Login Name, Administrator Login Password, and
Confirm Password fields are used to configure the administrator’s
profile. The fields are defined below.
Administrator Login Name: Specifies the login name used when
logging into the router’s management interface. The default is root.
Administrator Login Password: Specifies the login password. The
default is no password. The password is displayed as a series of asterisks.
If you enter a new password, be sure to enter it again in the Confirm
Password field.
Confirm Password: Specifies the same login password for confirmation.
The password is displayed as a series of asterisks.
External Admin: Controls whether the router can be managed from the
Internet through the WAN port. The default setting is disabled, meaning
that the router can only be managed from a workstation connected to
one of its Ethernet ports. To prevent unauthorized individuals from
making changes to the router’s configuration, you should leave this
feature disabled.
