Starting the Open Controller
Booting from an external, parallel-port floppy
This method is useful for providing external, floppy-drive access to the
open controller.
Requirements
You need a:
•
floppy drive and appropriate cable to connect to the open controller
parallel port (see “Considerations” below)
•
1747-OCVGA1 or 1747-OCVGAE module, monitor, and keyboard
Considerations
•
The recommended cable and floppy drive are bundled under catalog
number 1747AV-OCFD, which is available from:

The cable is wired for floppy A only.
Steps
1. Connect the external floppy drive to the parallel port of the open
controller.
2. Change BIOS. Table 4.G show the required BIOS settings assuming that
you are using the cable and floppy drive from Automation Value. The
BIOS settings not shown don’t affect booting from an external,
parallel-port floppy. See chapter 3 for additional BIOS information.
