Introduction
Product Overview:
Fibre Digital Audio Transceiver
FDAT-TX EN1
The FDAT-TX unit transmits audio and 24 digital inputs to the
RX unit. The unit receives a balanced audio input and
converts it to digital format. This digital signal is combined
with the 24 digital inputs, and then transmitted via fibre-
optic transmission to the RX unit. The inputs are active
HIGH. As an example, the Inputs can be connected to relay
outputs or directly to switches.
The LED level indicator
must be used to set the
input audio to the
appropriate level, to
prevent overdriving the
analog-to-digital
converter. The audio
input has another 6 dB
headroom from the time
when the RED 0 dB LED
lights up, before the
audio output on the RX
unit will clip.
FDAT-RX EN1
The FDAT-RX unit receives the data via the fibre-optic, and
separates the audio data from the digital input data. The
audio signal output is via a balanced line output. The digital
outputs have a transistor pull down output.
If a relay is used, it must be connected between the output
and the 24 V supply. If
the fibre is not
connected, or there is a
fault with the TX unit,
the outputs will all be
off, and the SYNC LED
will be OFF. The fault
output line will be ON
(pulled down) in a fault
condition.
