Trouble shooting:
Microphone shows significant hum:
a.) If hum increases when bass attenuator is activated: replace coil L1
b.) If hum varies when mic body or cap is touched with hand: check ground connection between cap
and housing. Open microphone and carefully scrape out the inner side of the housing 15 and the
surface of the cap 13 where it makes contact to the housing. If necessary clamp a piece of copper foil
or thin bare stranded wire between cap and housing. Since some while a contact spring is used to
ensure a faultless ground connection.
Microphone works intermittently, shows hum or crackling noise:
a.) Check connector 20.1 on microphone for loose contact pins
→
replace connector.
NOTE:
Wiring between the microphone´s XLR connector and the internal connector has been changed.
Please refer to table on page 3. If necessary change wiring. Otherwise the microphone or the power
supply may be damaged. Should the contacts of the XLR connector already be covered with sealing
compound it is necessary to cut the respective wires and solder them in correct order. Please ensure
good insulation of the solder points. If you exchange only the XLR connector please cover the contacts
after soldering with hot melt adhesive.
b.) Check the microphone cable's connectors for loose contacts or broken solder points.
c.) Check the microphone socket in the N-SOLIDTUBE for loose contacts. Please note that the wiring
between the 6 pole XLR and the internal connector has been changed and the now used cable assembly
will not work on very old N-SOLIDTUBES. Please compare wiring diagram on page 10 and change wires
on the XLR if necessary.
Repeatedly blown fuse in power supply:
Check varistors RV1 and RV2 in the power supply and the mains transformer. In case of a defective
mains transformer please always also replace varistors RV1 and RV2.
CAUTION: The sign "
!
" in the parts list marks a component specified for safety
reasons. It shall be replaced only by the original AKG spare part. Fuses shall be
replaced by the same type and value for continued protection against risk of fire.

Zerlegeanleitung:
1.) Schrauben 19 entfernen und Mikrofon soweit wie möglich aus dem Gehäuse 15 ziehen,
Steckverbindung zwischen dem Steckerkabel 20 und Print 6 lösen und Gehäuse 15 entfernen.
2.) Zum Tausch des XLR-Steckers, lösen Sie die Schrauben 21 und ziehen sodann den Stecker nach
unten aus dem Gehäuse.
ACHTUNG:
Falls nicht unbedingt notwendig, lösen Sie bitte niemals die
Schraube 18 (Masseverbindung zum Gehäuse). Das Wiedereinsetzen von Schraube, Zahnscheibe 17
und Lötfahne ist extrem schwierig und nur mit einem magnetischen Klemmschraubenzieher möglich.
3.) Um den Print 6 zu entfernen müssen Schraube 11 und Abstandsbolzen 9 entfernt werden. Die
Halterung 8 kann dann vom Print abgenommen werden. Bitte dabei Mutter 10 nicht verlieren! Ziehen
Sie nun den Print 6 vom Print 5 ab. Die Röhre 7 kann nun leicht getauscht werden.
4.) Um den Print 5 zugänglich zu machen, bieten sich zwei Möglichkeiten an. Am einfachsten zwickt
man die beiden Kontaktstifte zur Kapsel knapp oberhalb der Prints ab und entfernt diesen bei
gleichzeitigem herausdrücken der Kunststoffklinke (markiert mit * in Zeichnung auf Seite 1) des
Kontaktträgers 4. Diese Methode führt allerdings zur Zerstörung des Kontaktträgers und bedingt daher
einen Tausch desselben. Die andere Möglichkeit besteht darin, mit Lötsauglitze das Zinn an den
Lötstellen der Kontaktstifte am Print 5 und auf den Stiften selbst komplett zu entfernen. Dann kann der
Print von den Kontaktstiften abgehoben werden, wobei man wieder gleichzeitig die Sperrklinke nach
vorne drücken muss.
