• Switch on the docking station.
• Wait at least 40-50 seconds so that the docking station can start the internal server. Only then
is the docking station available for WLAN devices (e.g. PC, iOS devices or Android devices).
• Start the search for the docking station’s WLAN server on the PC, iOS device or Android
device. It should be under “akasa air”.
Please consult the manufacturer’s instruction manual for further information or the con

Partitioning/Formatting the Hard Drive
• A new hard drives must
fi
rst be partitioned and then formatted before it can be used (before
you can store data on it).
• In Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP, partitioning and formatting can be
done easily via the Control Panel (via Computer Management/Disk Management).
• After partitioning, the newly created partition has to be formatted (fast formatting is suf
fi
cient;
“normal” formatting may take a long time to complete, depending on the size of the hard
drive).
• Only after the hard drive has been partitioned and then formatted can data be stored on the
hard drive.
Handling
• Use is permitted only in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or
wet! Wall plug transformers have the potential to cause a fatal electric shock!
• Never use the product soon after taking it from a cold room to a warm one. The
condensation that forms might damage the product under certain circumstances.
The wall plug transformer also poses a risk for a potentially fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it to use. This may take several hours.
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during trans-
port:
- Excessive humidity or dampness
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
-
Dust
or
fl
ammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows
-
Strong
magnetic
fi
elds such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loud-
speakers
• Any maintenance or repair work may be performed only by an authorised repair
shop.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is neither kinked nor
pinched.
• Do not move the product with a hard drive installed when the hard drive is in use.
Movement during operation may cause the write/read heads in the hard drive to
make contact with the magnetic disk. This may not only lead to data loss but may
also damage the hard drive! The same applies to the 30-second period after the
hard drive enclosure has been switched off, until the magnetic disk in the hard
drive has come to a standstill.
Cleaning
Before cleaning the product, switch it off and unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains
socket. Then, wait for at least 30 seconds until the magnetic disks in the hard drive have come
to a complete stop.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these
can cause discolouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent
scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these
could damage the housing or even impair operation.
Disposal
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
lations.
