12. Center punch and drill the hole marks with a 9/32 inch drill bit. Use a rat-tail
file to remove any burrs.
13. Securely fasten the mounting plate using six 1/4 x 3/4 inch truss head screws
and six serrated flange nuts. For the main chute installation make sure to place
one shim underneath the bottom side of the mounting plate. Shims are not
required for the chute extension.
NOTE: Shims are used to make the faces of the sensors parallel on the main
chute installation and are used on the main chutes only. Since the main
chute is tapered, if you do not use the shims the sensors will not align
properly. DO NOT use shims if you are mounting to the chute extension.
NOTE: The flange nuts should be on the outside of the hood so it doesn't
protrude into the flow of cotton. If bolts are installed wrong, errors could
be caused in yield data.
14. Slide the assembly seen in Figure 19 onto the U-shaped strap as seen in Figure
20. The template assembly should be slid on until it mates up with the duct.
15. Mark the holes and rectangular hole from the template. Remove the mounting
plate and template from the chute.
16. Center-punch and drill the holes.
17. Use a suitable cutting device and cut the center rectangular hole.
18. File down all edges so that no metal burrs are left.
IMPORTANT: To prevent damage to the sensors, DO NOT attach the
sensors until the chutes are reattached to the machine.
