NOTE:
Before changing operating limits, be sure you have carefully
considered the potential impact on the load. It is best to maintain an
operating space that is as small as possible to prevent unwanted or
unsafe operation.
4.10.5 Pausing a Test
To pause a test while in local operation, you may simply control current or power
to zero or you may enter Standby Mode. For brief pauses, it may be more
convenient to reduce current or power to zero (see section 4.10.2 on
Adjusting
Setting
above). For longer pauses and/or for maximum safety, it is recommended
that you enter Standby Mode.
To enter Standby Mode at any time, press the red STANDBY button for the
appropriate converter (A or B). The STANDBY button will be lit, while other
mode buttons are unlit. You will hear an audible click as the DC output
contactors open and internally disconnect the load. While in Standby Mode, no
power can be transferred to or from the load.
To resume testing in local operation, you must check the operating limits again
before entering Voltage, Current or Power Mode. This sequence is required to
make sure that you are aware of the limit settings and have confirmed that they
are correct before applying power to the load again.
To check the operating limits push the UPPER or LOWER LIMITS button as
before and adjust the limits as needed using the Up Arrow (
×
) and Down Arrow
(
Ø
) buttons (for a complete description see section 4.8 on
Adjusting Operating
Limits
above).
Once the limits have been checked, the
Mode buttons
will begin flashing and
you may select Voltage, Current or Power Mode again (see Section 4.10.1
Selecting Mode
above).
4.10.6 Entering Remote Operation
While in local operation, if you wish to switch either channel to remote operation
you must first place the channel in Standby Mode. Press the red STANDBY
button. The STANDBY button will be lit while other mode buttons are unlit.
You will hear an audible click as the DC output contactors open and internally
disconnect the load.
Once Standby Mode is entered, remote operation can be initiated via ROS.
REMOTE A or REMOTE B LED will now be lit and that channel is ready to be
controlled remotely. See Section 4.11,
Remote Operation
below to continue.
4.10.7 Changing Load Configuration
To change the load configuration, the DC Converter must be in local operation
and in Standby Mode. If it is not in Standby Mode, press the red STANDBY
button for each active converter (A and/or B). The STANDBY button will be lit,
while other mode buttons are unlit. You will hear an audible click as the DC
output contactors open and internally disconnect the load.
