Introduction

The MAX is a proximity reader access control device for a single door. It

is programmed and operated using MAX proximity cards or key fobs.
The proximity cards and key fobs each have a unique ID number and

must be identified to the MAX before they can be used to operate the

system. The MAX memory can store up to 475 ID numbers (this includes

the master cards). Once programmed, the ID number is stored indefinitely

in the MAX memory until it is voided (removed) or the memory is erased.

Removing power from the MAX does not erase the programming memory.

Note:

Information on the programming of a MAX integrated with a

Galaxy security control system can be found in the

Operational Programming Instructions

Note:

Each time a card is presented to the MAX, the MAX buzzer

beeps:

• A single long beep indicates that a master card has been pre-

sented,

• A single short beep indicates a valid card has been presented

and accepted when programming,

• Five rapid beeps indicates an invalid card has been presented.

Assigning Master Cards

Assigning the Program Master Card

On initial power-up the MAX is in Sleep Mode, LEDs 2–6 (red)

are on. The first card presented to the MAX is initialised as the

Program Master Card. The MAX beeps once to verify the

programming is accepted and LEDs 3–6 switch off; LED 2 remains

on — indicating normal operating mode. The Program Master Card

is used to access the Programming Mode allowing the master cards

and the Door Open and Door Unlock Times to be programmed.

Changing the Program Master Card

1. Enter Programming Mode:

Swipe the MAX with the Pro-

gram Master Card — LED 6 switches on.

2. Declare New Program Master:

present a blank card to the

MAX — LED 4 switches on and LED 6 switches off and a long

beep is emitted. The card is now the Program Master Card.

3. Void Old Program Master:

 present the old Program Master

Card to the MAX — LEDs 6 and 4 switch on and a long beep is

emitted; indicating that the old Program Master has been is de-

leted.

• Presenting another blank card instead of the old Program Mas-

ter steps through to the Void Master Mode without deleting the

old Program Master. This allows multiple Program Master cards

to be assigned.

4. Exit Programming Mode:

Swipe the MAX five times with

the new Program Master Card  — until LED 6 switches off and

LED 2 switches on.

Other Master Cards

The Void Master card is used to remove standard user and nightlock

access user cards from the MAX memory. The Void Master card

cannot remove master cards.

The Add Master card is used to add standard user and nightlock

user cards to the MAX memory. A maximum of 475 cards (including

master cards) can be stored.
The Nightlock Master card is used to switch the MAX nightlock

mode on and off. It is also used, in conjunction with the Add Master

to assign blank and standard user cards as nightlock access user

cards.

Programming Master Cards

1.

Enter Programming Mode: Swipe the MAX with Program Mas-

ter Card — LED 6 switches on.

Note:

Programming Mode cannot be accessed when the MAX

is nightlocked (Key LED on).

2.

Swipe the MAX with Program Master Card — LEDs 6 and 4

switch on indicating Void Master Mode.

3.

To assign a Void Master present a blank card to the MAX — a

long beep is emitted. The card is now a Void Master Card. The

MAX LEDs 6 and 3 switch on indicating Add Master Mode.

• To move to Add Master Mode without assigning a Void Mas-

ter, swipe the MAX with Program Master Card — LEDs 6 and

3 switch on.

4.

To assign an Add Master, present a blank card to the MAX —

a long beep is emitted. The card is now an Add Master Card.

LEDs 6 and 5 switch on indicating Nightlock Master Mode.

• To move to Nightlock Master Mode without assigning an Add

Master, swipe the MAX with Program Master Card — LEDs 6

and 5 switch on.

5.

To assign a Nightlock Master, present a blank card to the MAX

— a long beep is emitted. The card is now a Nightlock Master

Card. LEDs 6 and 2 switch on  indicating Door Open Time

Mode.

• To move to Door Open Time Mode without assigning a Night-

lock Master, swipe the MAX with Program Master Card —

LEDs 6 and 2 switch on.

6.

Door Open Time: This is the period following the user card

swipe that the door can remain open before an alarm is acti-

vated (default five seconds).
To set the Door Open Time to N–1 seconds, swipe the MAX N

times with any valid user card. For example, 11 swipes sets a

Door Open Time of 10 seconds. The Door Open Time can be

programmed within the range 0 – 255 seconds.
