Where design permits, withdraw Wire Ropes for examination, inspect for frays,
kinks, corrosion, damage and deterioration. Reinstall or replace where necessary.
If design does not permit the Wire Ropes to be removed, carry out Stage 40.

Inspect the visible Wire Rope outside the mast, using a Mobile Elevating Work
Platform (MEWP), form frays, kinks, corrosion, damage and deterioration. The wire
Ropes should be free of the weight of the lantern carriage during this inspection.
Using MEWP, ascend mast, check for deterioration of protective finish, rust and
impact damage; also inspect all visible welds for cracking. Report on condition
to Client.

Tighten all head frame and pulley enclosure nuts and bolts.

Inspect head pulleys, split pins, etc.
