Initial Power-Up of Monitor
The monitor incorporates an initial self-test feature which can be activated on initial power up. During
power-up, all 3 LEDs will turn on and the screen will display firmware version and date. To activate the
interactive self-test; depress any of the three front buttons or the touch screen display within 3 seconds of
power-up. Pressing any of the three front buttons will toggle the LED directly above it to either be on or
off while pressing the touch screen will invert all the pixels and initiate a beep from the horn. These tests
are designed to verify proper operation of
the LED’s, touch screen, display, horn and buttons. Internally,
the processor runs a self test and will alert the user if a problem is found. The monitor resumes normal
mode after 3 seconds of no activity with the buttons or touch screen.
Refer to Appendix F for actual displayed APM screens, specific screens are called out in brackets and
highlighted as shown:
[SCREEN XX]
.
On initial power up, the monitor will display the message Field Calibration Required
[SCREEN 1P]
(and
Warning Face Velocity Below Range
[SCREEN 2P]
if the fans are off or Warning Face Velocity Above
Range
[SCREEN 3P]
if the face velocity is too high for the monitor to accurately measure.) The Field
Calibration Required message prompts the user to calibrate the unit so a non-calibrated monitor cannot
be unintentionally installed and display erroneous face velocities out of the box. This is only displayed on
a non-calibrated unit.
Touch Screen & Password Protection
The password protected touch screen only needs to be activated for performing configuration and
calibration of the APM. During normal operation the touch screen is inactive. To enable the touch
screen perform the following steps.
Step 1: Enable the Touch Screen
To enable the touch screen; simultaneously press the
MUTE
and
SCROLL
buttons until the password
screen
[SCREEN 0]
is initialized, (approximately 5 seconds) then release. The touch screen is now
initialized and will respond to anything touching it. Light fi
nger pressure is all that’s required for
selections, care must be exercised not to damage the touch screen or display. The use of a stylus is
recommended, but not required unless finger size is a problem.
Step 2: Password Protection
The first screen that is displayed is the password screen that prompts the technician to enter a 5 digit
numeric password. The default password shipped with the unit is set to all zeros (00000). The password
is easily changed via the password configuration menu
[SCREEN1F]
; this will be covered in detail later.
