Adjustment of the manual park brakes
The manual park brakes can be adjusted if required. The adjustment is carried out as
follows :
1.
loosen the two screws on the top
of the park brake mechanism
(see illustration)
2.
position the brake against the
drive wheel so that when the
park brake is operated, it can be
operated yet be firm against the
drive wheel, sufficient to prevent
the wheel from turning.
3.
retighten the screws
4.
test the operation of the brakes.
If the brake does not operate
smoothly, or hold the wheel
firmly when applied, loosen the
screws and repeat the process
above
Inflation of tyres
The pneumatic drive tyres should be inflated at 40psi (275 kpa)
It is recommended that dust caps be kept on the valves to keep them clean.
Freewheeling the chair
Your Traxx 2 wheelchair may be fitted with either of the following systems a) or b) below:
a) Hub release system for freewheeling
To manually push the chair, release the wheel hub (see illustration below) by pulling the
hub out and rotating it.
b) Motor brake release system for freewheeling
Rotate the motor brake lever from the “LOCK” to the “UNLOCKED” position.
Note: to avoid accidents, ensure that the park brakes or the motor brake release
system is re-engaged when finished freewheeling the chair
Transporting the chair
When transporting the chair by vehicle, ensure the controller is turned off, the park brakes
applied and attach tie downs for safety. Before attaching the tie downs, check the tie down
manufacturers instructions for correct operation.
