STEP 5
ACTIVATION HANDLE
•
The handle lock on the activation handle is
used to temporarily secure the activation
handle to prevent unintentional activation.
•
Before leaving the secured area, be sure to
loosen the handle lock and place it behind
the activation handle so that unhindered
activation is possible!
•
To prevent unintentional triggering, we
recommend removing the cartridge and
then releasing the trigger mechanism by
pulling the trigger handle. This applies in
particular if you could endanger yourself or
others through an unintentional release, e.g.
in a chair lift, in cable cars, in a helicopter, in
a bus, train, etc.

STEP 6
HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT OF THE
ACTIVATION HANDLE
•
Check when wearing the backpack if the
activation handle is positioned in a way
that works for you. Usually that is the case,
if not, the handle attachment can be
adjusted to the appropriate height. The
proper position of the activation handle
should be between chest and shoulder
•
Make sure that the activation handle is not
obstructed by clothing and that it can be
easily reached. A retail shop will be able to
attach the activation handle on the right-
hand strap if so desired by left-handed
clients.
•
Remove the cartridge!
•
To adjust the height, open the metal
bracket, remove the complete handle from
the shoulder strap loop and reinsert it in
the desired position, then close the metal
bracket.
•
Close the handle lock and screw the
cartridge back in last.
STEP 7
SIMULATE THE REQUIRED RELEASE
FORCE
•
In practice, it is possible to simulate the
required triggering force of approx. 8 kg
(80 N) without using a cartridge.
•
Remove the cartridge for this purpose!
•
Make sure that the display in the window of
the ACTIVE CHECK shows "green".
Otherwise follow 4 Start-up step 1-2
•
The simulation of the activation is done by
a strong, rapid pull on the activation
handle.
PRACTICE ACTIVATION
•
We want you to feel 100% comfortable
with the ABS®-System. We therefore
strongly recommend that you practice the
triggering as part of your training so that
the
functional
principle
can
be
demonstrated as realistically as possible.
Please ensure that during the practice
activation the distance to people and
objects is approximately 1 m (3.28 feet) in
order to avoid adverse aects. Activate the
handle with a strong, rapid pull.
