1.3.8 Brake testing
When to test
During operation, the holding brake of the motor normally wears down. A test can
be performed to determine whether the brake can still perform its function.
How to test
The function of the holding brake of the motor may be verified as described below:
1 Run related part to a position where the combined weight of the part and any
load is maximized (maximum static load).
2 Switch the motor to the MOTORS OFF.
3 Inspect and verify that the part maintains its position.
If the part does not change position as the motors are switched off, then the
brake function is adequate.
