Permanent magnet
motor
Permanent magnet motor. Three-phase AC
synchronous motor with permanent magnet rotor
and sinusoidal BackEMF voltage.
Note:
With permanent magnet motors special
attention must be paid on setting the motor nominal
values correctly in this parameter group (
). You must use vector control. If the nominal
BackEMF voltage of the motor is not available, a full ID
run should be performed for improving performance.

PMaSynRM motor
Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance
Motor
Selects the motor control mode.
Vector
Vector control. Vector control has better accuracy
than scalar control but cannot be used in all
situations (see selection Scalar below).
Requires motor identification run (ID run). See
Note:
In vector control the drive performs a standstill
ID run at the first start if ID run has not been
previously performed. A new start command is
required after standstill ID run.
Note:
To achieve a better motor control performance,
you can perform a normal ID run without load.

Scalar
Scalar control. Suitable for most applications, if top
performance is not required.
Motor identification run is not required.
Note:
Scalar control must be used in the following
situations:
• with multimotor applications 1) if the load is not
equally shared between the motors, 2) if the
motors are of different sizes, or 3) if the motors are
going to be changed after the motor identification
(ID run)
• if the nominal current of the motor is less than 1/6
of the nominal output current of the drive
• if the drive is used with no motor connected (for
example, for test purposes).
Note:
Correct motor operation requires that the
magnetizing current of the motor does not exceed
90% of the nominal current of the inverter.
