Chapter 3
Configuring Network Features
This chapter provides the information required to configure
and
on the BluStar
8000i via the configuration files.
Network Settings
This section describes the following information:
•
•
•
Configuration Server Download Precedence
•
•
Configuring Network Settings Manually
•
Configuring LAN and PC Port Negotiation
•
Basic Network Settings
If Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is enabled, the BluStar automatically configures all of the network set-
tings. If the BluStar 8000i cannot populate the network settings, or if DHCP is disabled, you can set the network options
manually.
Parameters in Configuration Files
Description
dhcp
Enables or disables DHCP. Enabling DHCP populates the required network information. The DHCP server pro-
vides the network information that the BluStar 8000i requires. If the BluStar 8000i is unable to get any required
information, then you must enter it manually. DHCP populates the following network information:
IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, Domain Name Servers (DNS), HTTP HTTPS, TFTP, and FTP servers, and Timer
Servers.
For example, dhcp: 1
For more information, see
ip
IP address of the BluStar 8000i. To assign a static IP address, disable DHCP.
For example, ip: 192.168.0.25
For more information, see
Configuring Network Settings Manually
subnet mask
Subnet mask defines the IP address range local to the BluStar 8000i. To assign a static subnet mask, disable
DHCP.
For example, subnet mask: 255.255.255.224
For more information, see
Configuring Network Settings Manually
default gateway
The IP address of the network’s gateway or default router IP address. To assign a static Gateway IP address, dis-
able DHCP.
For example, default gateway: 192.168.0.1
