Configuring the basics

The following step by step description refers to some single essential steps of the
configuration assistant, which is part of WebAdmin. After these basic configura-
tions you are able to make internal calls between all the phones described below
connected to your communication server. How to set up network interfaces (SIP /
ISDN / analogue), user groups, voice mail, etc. is not in the scope of this document.

1. On the WebAdmin home view, select the checkbox

Configuration assistant

.

The configuration assistant is opened in the lower part of the WebAdmin user in-
terface.

2. Read the welcome section in order to get familiar with the configuration assist-

ant.

3. Go to the configuration assistant step

03. Checking licences

 and enter a valid li-

cence code. If you do not have a valid licence code, read the following notes:

Licensing notes

A number of communication system functions and features are ena-
bled subject to the purchase of licences. The licence code (LIC) con-
tains all the enabled licences. You need to activate the system with a
licence code containing at least a valid

Software Release

 licence. Other-

wise the communication server will switch over to a restricted operat-
ing mode after 4 hours of operation. You get the licence code from
your authorised dealer or from the Aastra 400 activation portal via
extranet (partner login required) by entering the Equipment ID (EID) of
your system. You find the EID in the licence overview of the
WebAdmin.

4. Go to the configuration assistant step

09. Open users

.

You will see some automatic created users, depending of the type of your com-
munication server and the fitted interface cards. To edit a user, click on its call
number.

5. Go to the configuration assistant step

10. Open phones

.

You will see some automatic created phones, depending on the type of your
communication server and the fitted interface cards. You will also see the type of
the digital system phones already plugged in. To edit the phone settings, click
the appropriate interface.

Now you are able to make internal calls between analogue phones, ISDN phones
and digital system phones (Aastra 5300 series) connected to your communication
server.
