The ashes left in the burn chamber and vent pipe will draw moisture when the furnace is not in
use. It is important to thoroughly vacuum the inside of the furnace burn chamber
and vent pipe at the end of the heating season. A light oil (WD-40 or equivalent)
should be applied to the inside of the burn chamber to inhibit rust.
3.
Cap the furnace exhaust vent pipe to reduce the amount of moisture from entering the burn
chamber.
4.
Clean and inspect all blower and auger motors.
