INSTALLING THE COMBIped

 BRACE 

 

> The brace thickness “hard“ should be used for very thick and 
rigid nails only, therefore, please use “soft“ and “medium“ for 
most of the applications! 

 

CAUTION

:  There  is  danger  of  the  nail  to  come  off  when  using  a  brace 

with too  much  tension.  That  is  why  moderate  tension  should  be  applied 
only. If the patient feels too much tension, remove the brace and replace 
it by the next lower tension level. 

1. Preparations 

 
Preparing the nails and cleaning the nail fold 

Remove  any  non-adhesive  parts  from  the  nail 
surface.  Smoothen  extremely  rough  nails  or  slightly 
roughen extremely smooth nails. 
Clean  the  nail  fold  and  prepare  the  area  such  as  to 
enable  the  hook  to  be  fixed  under  the  nail  edge 
before installing the COMBIped

 braces. 

 

Disinfecting the brace  

Disinfect  the  wire  of  the  COMBIped

  brace  before 

bending  the  hook  and  also  each  time  before  you 
install it by wiping with the alcohol swab. 

 

Selecting the right brace  

 

Please choose the right brace size depending on the 
nail thickness (force needed). 
 

soft

:    

Wire thickness of 0.25 mm – for soft and normal 
nails 

 

medium:   

Wire thickness of 0.30 mm – for normal and thick 
nails 

 

hard:     

Wire thickness of 0.35 mm – for extremely rigid and 
thick nails
